A stall two meters by one on the roadway of Ribera de Curtidores pays the city €271.20 a year. The rate is published in the fiscal ordinance, it is charged by square meter and by month, and nobody works it out. Here it is worked out for the three bands of El Rastro and for the five stall sizes the ordinance allows.

A year, which is what the licence holder ends up paying. The sizes are the ones set by article 19 of the Rastro ordinance: one to three meters long, and one or two deep depending on what the street allows.

The market opens on Sundays and public holidays, 9am to 3pm, but the fee accrues every month of the year. A 2x1 in band 1 is €271.20 a year: spread over the 52 Sundays a year has, not counting the holidays it also opens on, that is €5.22 a Sunday.

It is not a flat price per square meter. The ordinance charges the base rate for the first two meters and a second rate, twice as dear, for every meter beyond that.
An example, a 3x2 in band 1. That is 6 m². The first two pay €11.30 each per month: €22.60. The 4 over that pay €22.75 each per month: €91.00. Total €113.60 a month, €1,363.20 a year.
The fiscal ordinance splits El Rastro street by street, and almost always in sections. The stalls are the ones in the city register.

The register authorizes 24 stalls on Calle del Casino and Calle de Embajadores, and neither appears in any of the three bands of Grupo 5.º. Embajadores is named there only as the boundary of Plaza de Cascorro, not as a street of the zone. They are 1.1% of the market's stalls and we have not found what rate they are charged at. The discrepancy is logged in findings. The three bands of Grupo 5.º are not the Street Fee Index, which grades the same streets 1 to 9 for other fees.
El Rastro has a group of its own in the ordinance. The neighboring groups show what that means.
Any other street market in Madrid pays, under Grupo 3.º, €0.24 per square meter per day. A 2 m² stall is €0.48 a day. It would take 565 market days to reach the €271.20 that same stall pays in a year on the roadway of El Rastro.
The Christmas market on Plaza Mayor, Grupo 4.º, pays €24.27 per square meter for the whole authorized period, and €145.62 for each tree-selling module.

The rates were compared line by line with the 2024 edition and are identical, so they are in force. The annual fees on this page are copied from nowhere: they are computed here from those rates.
Two warnings. The fee accrues monthly, all twelve months, even though the market only opens on Sundays and public holidays. And Ribera de Curtidores and Cascorro are split between band 1 and band 2 depending on roadway or sidewalk, a distinction the stall register does not record, so on those two streets only a range can be given.
