The city stall register divides El Rastro into nine sectors, A to I, with 2,186 stalls between them. The sector is the unit the city works with when it orders or moves the market: when the rebuilding of Plaza del General Vara del Rey forced 300 stalls to move, what moved was the whole of Sector F.
