El Rastro is in Embajadores, south of the center of Madrid, and for almost everyone it starts at Plaza de Cascorro and runs down Ribera de Curtidores. But it has no door: it is 18 streets, three metro exits and one commuter-rail station at one end or the other, and which one you come in by decides what you see first.

Two ways in and two different markets, by the order you see them in. On each plan, the street you come in by.
From Tirso de Molina or La Latina. You start at the head of the market, Plaza de Cascorro, and walk the whole of Ribera de Curtidores downhill.
From Embajadores. You start at Ronda de Toledo and walk up. The streets of junk and antiques fall to one side, toward Carlos Arniches and the Mira el Río streets; the books and paper, at the other end.
